The Madras Chamber, in collaboration with Auroville Consulting and the World Resources Institute is organizing a stakeholder workshop on “Solar Energy for MSMEs in Tamil Nadu on 4th February 2023 at Hotel Raintree between 9.30 am and 2.00 pm followed by lunch.
As you may be aware, the recently concluded COP27 in Egypt and Tamil Nadu’s launching of the State’s Climate Action Plan are landmark events that set targets for achievement of Net Zero the world over. Every individual will be required to be committed to the overall human objective of reducing GreenHouse Gas emissions. In the future, the Carbon Border Adjustment (CBAM2021) is likely to become the basis of most businesses across nations. Achieving Net Zero has to be viewed as an opportunity both for Tamil Nadu and the nation as a whole.
Solar Power is one that offers the biggest opportunity for achieving these worldwide objectives. Solar Rooftops are basically the answer as such projects are relatively small in nature, and can easily be done by Industry, Building Complexes and even individuals across the country. To facilitate its spread and development, the MSME sector will need attractive green Open Access rules, conducive Rooftop Solar policies, access to low-cost capital and apex financing models and alternative implementation models including demand aggregation.
The objective of the workshop is to hear views from state officials, industry representatives and power sector experts and to discuss key challenges and opportunities for C&I entities to access affordable and clean electricity. besides providing simple models to help calculate the economics of Solar Rooftops to take informed decision regarding investing the same . Apart from the Inaugural plenary, we have two sessions on the following topics with eminent experts sharing their valuable inputs.
